CONFIDENTIALITY
CONFIDENTIALY BETWEEN CLIENT AND THERAPIST IS MANDATED BY FEDERAL AND STATE LAW AND IS PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND IS SOUND BUSINESS. While I am not able to disclose any information that we may discuss, including my knowledge of who you are, you may tell anyone any information you wish. Trust between client and therapist is of utmost importance in the therapeutic relationship.
Every effort is made to maintain the confidentiality of our relationship and the information shared. The internet however, is not a 100% secure environment. E-mail may be monitored or intercepted although our communications are probably at least as secure as traditional phone conversations. Also important to note are the occasions where Federal and State laws mandate that I break confidentiality. Whenever a client is SERIOUSLY thinking about harming themselves or someone else, and the client refuses to seek appropriate help/external controls, I must inform the proper authorities. In all my 28 years of experience there have been very few times this has occurred.
LIMIITATIONS
If you are in a critical/crisis situation that may require immediate or emergency services please contact your local hospital or "911" services for a referral. The online counseling services are not yet capable of handling crisis/critical situations adequately.
You must be 18 years of age or older to use our services, unless pre-arranged by a parent or guardian.
I am not a medical doctor and cannot recommend medications. I will work with your family doctor to discuss the use of appropriate medications in your counseling process.
